Job Role:         Technical Services Engineer

Location:         Based in Clevedon, near Bristol

Term:              Permanent

Salary:            £23,000* + Bonus + Benefits

Excellent opportunity to work with a managed service provider supporting clients with new and exciting technologies around the South West and across the UK.

The Role

You will demonstrate a passion for the highest levels of customer service, using your IT skills to care for the customer from their first question through to resolving their ticket or completing their project. You will deal efficiently with customers, suppliers and colleagues to ensure projects, troubleshooting, service and support are available and communicated at every stage. You will work with a tight-knit team assisting with a speedy, cheerful, and helpful attitude on a busy helpdesk.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have experience working with IT services. The candidate should be customer-service driven and demonstrate a positive, friendly, and professional manner, remain calm under pressure. They should prioritise workloads and multi-task both when working in the office and when on-site with customers. An excellent phone manner and written English skills are required. A full UK driving license is required.

The following skills are preferred but not mandatory because, for candidates who lean fast and have excellent customer service skills, Northstar will provide full training in the following skills:

  • Building from scratch and maintaining Windows and Linux servers/virtual machines
  • Using an iLO, iDRAC or equivalent to build and configure physical servers
  • Installing and maintaining a VMware environment or equivalent
  • Creating and administering e-mail, OneDrive, and SharePoint services via Microsoft 365
  • Configuring and maintaining Backup and Recovery technologies
  • Setting up a switch in a VLAN
  • Configuring routers with a range of public IP addresses
  • Creating, modifying and testing a firewall rule
  • Configuring an IP telephony endpoint to connect to hosted telephony systems
  • Configuring Azure servers with remotely accessible file shares

The Person

As a Sales and Marketing Executive, you will be an integral part of our business, supporting various initiatives to drive business growth and customer engagement. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop your skills while contributing to our company’s success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Support
    • Assist senior sales professionals in identifying potential leads and prospects.
    • Conduct market research to gather insights and identify trends.
    • Assist in the preparation of sales presentations and proposals.
    • Help manage customer relationships and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Marketing Assistance
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to execute marketing campaigns and strategies.
    • Assist in content creation, including social media posts, blog articles, email and other marketing channels.
    • Monitor and analyse marketing performance metrics.
    • Support the development and execution of digital marketing initiatives.
  • Data Analysis
    • Gather and analyse data to provide insights into customer behaviour and preferences.
    • Generate reports and presentations to communicate findings.
    • Contribute to data-driven decision-making within the team.
    • Utilise AI to increase the pace of communication.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of sales and marketing efforts.
    • Participate in team meetings and collaboration sessions.

Qualification / Skill Requirements

  • Marketing qualification or one in a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with customers.
  • Basic knowledge of sales and marketing principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in working with graphics, video or websites would be a bonus.
