Microsoft Teams as a calling solution

Teams Meetings as a Calling Solution

Microsoft Teams is the hub for teamwork in Microsoft 365 allowing everyone you work with to chat, meet, call, and collaborate all in one place, no matter where you are, all with enterprise-grade security.

Teams Meeting & Calling: opportunity

Microsoft Teams has experienced rapid market adoption and acceptance. For example, in July 2019, 13 million people used Teams daily, and 19 million used it weekly. By November 2019, the Teams had 20 million daily active users, and by March 2020, Microsoft announced that Teams had reached 44 million daily active users.

The global market for collaboration applications in the workplace will grow from $2.7 billion in 2018 to $4.8 billion by 2023. By 2022, 40% of formal meetings will happen via virtual concierges and advanced analytics. Furthermore, by 2024, remote working and changing workforce demographics will impact enterprise meetings so that only 25% will take place in person, down from 60% in 2018.

In September 2018, 87 out of the Fortune 100 were using the product, and 54 of those companies have more than 10,000 users.

Teams Meeting & Calling: solutions overview

Microsoft Teams provides a hub for teamwork where people can call, meet, chat, and collaborate all in one place. Conduct rich meetings with calling capabilities allowing people to securely connect with others inside and outside their organisation within the context of the files and conversations that they need to be productive. Furthermore, connections can span 1:1 meetings and calls, group meetings, or extensive virtual events. Lastly, personal and shared room devices certified for Teams helps ensure a seamless, consistent experience and superior audio and video quality.

As part of Teams, Direct Routing uses the Phone System built into Office 365 to make voice and video calls.

  • As a result, this is ideal for remote work and distributed workforces.
  • Provides simple monthly pricing and set up charges.
  • Microsoft includes this with your Office365 licensing with simple Office 365 Device log in.
  • It is the Skype For Business replacement.

March 2020 features

  • Background noise suppression in video calls (using AI).
  • Microsoft Teams gives the ability to read and write messages without an internet connection.
  • A way to virtually raise your hand when you want to say something in a video call.
  • There is a new service for small businesses that make Teams into a more traditional phone system. So desk phones can handle outgoing and incoming calls to regular phone numbers.
